We are pleased to welcome you to the Department of Environmental Engineering.

The need for environmental engineers will continue to increase as we strive to cope with an increase in the human population, public awareness, global climate change and Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s). One of our missions is to develop well-educated graduates with the essential skills, attributes and knowledge that will enable them to practice as professional environmental engineers. Our degree programs focus on the development of innovative, resourceful, entrepreneur and creative graduates - future leaders in government agencies, industry, the profession and the community.

The Department of Environmental Engineering was formed in 1998 and the education program was commenced in 1999. The campus is located on the 3rd Floor Building C Department of Civil Engineering Diponegoro University, Tembalang Campus. The Department currently has 22 lecturers, administration staff, and more than 450 students. The Department’s well-equipped laboratories include facilities to study environmental problems through final project.

The  Academic staff are also involved in an array of broader community activities including community, government agencies, the private sector, NGO-based committees, and extension work. Co-operative projects aim to improve industrial efficiency while protecting the natural environment, in addition to developing cost-effective approaches to preventing problems later on.

Through our student organization ‘HMTL’ [Environmental Engineering Students’ Association], the Department supports a strong mentoring, work experience, sport, religion and social program for students.

The Department is committed to the highest standards of research and education. The undergraduate programs reflect the problem-driven research. They aim to provide an integrated, seamless education experience, from undergraduate coursework to studies, in a research-intensive environment. Our teaching programs are reviewed and accredited by Indonesian’s Higher Education Accreditation Board to ensure they remain relevant and meet the standard, both in curriculum and facilities.

Visiting Prof. Takanobu Inoue to the Faculty of Engineering Diponegoro University


Monday 18th July 2011 Prof. Takanobu Inoue from Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan visited Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University after giving a lecture at Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science.

He discussed and informed his intention to the Faculty of Engineering to the Dean (Mr.Ir. Bambang Pudjianto, MT), and Vice Dean for Corporation (Mr. Ir. H. Bambang Purwanggono M. Eng). In addition, the discussion was attended by the secretary of Department of Environmental Engineering (M. Arief Budihardjo),  representative of lecturers of Environmental Engineering (Ir. Winardi  Dwi Nugraha, MSi, Haryono Setyo Huboyo, ST, MT, and Titik Istirokhatun ST. MSc), Chemical Engineering (Dr. rer nat. Heru Susanto, ST. MM. MT.), Fisheries and Marine Science (Dr. Munasik), Diponegoro University and from Fisheries and Marine Science UGM (Dr. Djumanto) as well as Environmental Engineering ITB (Dr. Eng, Rofiq Iqbal).

During the discussion, it was informed that the main purpose of his visit is to create networking among lecturer and researcher concerning on Environmental, Water Science Engineering. The network could be in the form of association or research group. He strongly invited Faculty of Engineering Undip to join to the network. Further, it was also informed this network will be announced at ITB Bandung in December 2011.

Prof. Inoue also visited one of laboratories in Faculty of Engineering which concern on Water and Waste Water Treatment. He was surprised about the research activity and would like to do research collaboration in the future.

The visit was closed by lunch in one of typical Indonesian restaurant. During that Lunch, it was agreed to establish MoU between his university  and Faculty of Engineering UNDIP (Mr. Ir. Bambang Purwanggono M. Eng will manage the MoU further).
